Perhaps I expresed myself badly, I can hear sounds under KDE, for
example starting and closing the session, but not when I change from a
virtual desktop to the other. When I had 7.1, with KDE 1, the sounds
selected work when changing between virtual desktops-

Now I understand, these are the results of lspcidrake in my laptop (just
lines about sound):

ESS Technology|ES1978 Maestro 2E (MULTIMEDIA_AUDIO maestro)
SubVendor=0x1179 SubDevice=0x0001

And for my main computer, when the same problem occurs:
Ensoniq|CT5880 (MULTIMEDIA_AUDIO snd-card--ens1371) SubVendor=0x1274
Subdevice=0x2000

I don't know if this could help
