This is so obvious that I'm sure that there is a good reason why this isn't part of the distribution already, but.... As experienced Mandrake users know (and also according to the official Mandrake User's Guide: file:/usr/share/doc/mandrake/en/mdkrefguide/install-free-installation.html) users should install new software in /usr/local. Since /user/local/bin is included by default in a user's $PATH why isn't /usr/local/lib included in a user's $LD_LIBRARY_PATH by default as well? -Chris
