I'm responsible for the update to 8mdk, it was only a tiny update from
7mdk. I've rechecked the .spec file, there's nothing in there that
should even remotely conflict with any part of kde (as far as I'm aware
of).

Maybe this happened:

[root@stefan RPMS]# rpm -Uvh kdeli
kdelibs-2.1-0.20010209.1mdk.i586.rpm
kdelibs-devel-2.1-0.20010209.1mdk.i586.rpm
kdelibs-devel-static-libraries-2.1-0.20010209.1mdk.i586.rpm
kdelibs-sound-2.1-0.20010209.1mdk.i586.rpm
kdelibs-sound-devel-2.1-0.20010209.1mdk.i586.rpm
[root@stefan RPMS]# rpm -Uvh kdelibs-*
file /usr/share/doc/HTML/en/kab/index.html from install of
kdelibs-devel-2.1-0.20010209.1mdk conflicts with file from package
kdeutils-2.1-0.20010111.1mdk
[root@stefan RPMS]#

Maybe you tried to upgrade more than one rpm at a time, I can't think of
any other explanation...

Oh, and when we're talking about file conflicts, could the kdeutils
maintainer please update the package?

Stefan
