Hello,

        I'm confused.

I'm running the latest cooker, and again could not get the
sound to work until today. Going back over e-mails and playing
hunches, I did the following, and DON'T know if all of it is
necessary or makes sense.

When I log in as root, and try running sndconfig, get
messages that there is an error opening /dev/audio or some such,
which a previous e-mail from a while ago suggested adding root
to the audio group. Did that - fixed that problem.

        Under 7.2, if I told it I had a Yahama OPL3a chipset,
and set the addresses correctly, it would work. Under the latest
cooker, had to tell it that it is a windows sound system. Why?
I'm not going to argue with success - it's working! but definitely
not even close to newbee proof yet.

Still - gets better every day!

        Regards,

        Vincent Meyer
