Totally bridging off topic, I hacked kdm on my Mandrake to have another
switch to go to initlevel 4... then added the following to my inittab:
tr:4:wait:/usr/X11R6/bin/xinit -e tuxracer -- /etc/X11/X -xf86config
/etc/X11/XF86Config-4.gl
tr2:4:wait:/sbin/init 5
Now I have tuxracer mode. :)

There is no silver bullet. Plus, werewolves make better neighbors than
zombies, and they tend to keep the vampire population down.
