Also 10GB successfull (at 22MB/s) and bzipped2.

I told you: remove reiserfs-utils, and install reiserfsprogs 3.0.x-i or j, then 
mkreiserfs

mkreiserfs -q -v 2 /dev/hda8

You can check with

mkreiserfsck /dev/hda8

and then:

mount /dev/hda8 /mnt/disk
