I'm trying to accomplish the simple task of configuring eth0 using DrakConf in
RC1. I doesn't work.
First let me say this: Hiding "Configure Internet Access" and "Configure Local
Network" buttons behind the "Expert Mode" title actually makes draknet harder
to understand for a new user and/or newbie. Without them draknet doesn't make
sense. After all, you're there to configure.
Anyway, after finding the "Expert Mode" I clicked on "Configure Local Network"
and entered the values for eth0 (IP address, netmask and all that) clicked OK
and then clicked Apply. Finally I exited DrakConf by clicking on OK.
Guess what? No eth0 was configured. Still no LAN in sight. ifconfig only gives
me lo.
Was draknet broken in RC1 or can I help you to track this one down?
The ethernet card is your common 3COM card and using the 'ifconfig' command to
configure 'eth0' worked without problems.
