There is a problem with the new Mandrake 8 when you select an install with a
latin-american keyboard layout. The AltGr key (the right side Alt) + <another
key> doesn't work. For example, you can't type the @ symbol (AltGr + q).
The installer puts a Xmodmap file in /etc/X11/xinit for the latin-american
keyboard layout, but by default it's not parsed. Looking around I found that
changing the following line in /etc/sysconfig/i18n correct the problem:
in /etc/sysconfig/i18n:
XKB_IN_USE=no
to
XKB_IN_USE=yes
With this, the script /etc/X11/xinit/fixkeyboard parse the Xmodmap file, and
the keyboard works perfectly.
