I sometimes have the same problem. I know this isn't a real solution, but 
have you tried to restart KDE. Usually works for me.
In fact, when I start KDE, there are 50% chances that some Gnome apps won't 
work (anyway, the ones I often use Glade and Galeon). So I just Quit KDE and 
restart it.
