It does on mine TDK CD-RW but does not HDC. The Icon on the desktop tells
it's an scd0

Doesn't create the device ( /dev/scd0 ) for a cdrw ( SONY CRX700E ) on
an IBM ThinkPad A22p.  Audio doesn't seem to work for some reason either
( alsa? )
