I know about French girls from my one visit to Paris when I was 17.  8)

And I also know how it feels. My wife's name is Bobbie (diminutive of 
Barbara) and I occasionally get a raised eyebrow when mentioning us as a 
couple: "Hoyt and Bobbie".
