I have a sandisk and it works just fine read-only. It is detected, but I have to do a 'modprobe sd_mod' if I boot without the media in the drive. I have a 'storage=yes' in /etc/sysconfig/usb. the following entry in my fstab mounts it: /dev/sda1 /mnt/smartmedia vfat user,noauto 0 0
