I notice from the list of RPMs that the 8.2 beta 1 release has gcc-2.9.6 gcc3.0 and egcs-1.1.2.
In addition to making the distribution larger, I would think that distributing multiple compilers complicates support issues. Are there packages in the Mandrake distribution which can not compile with gcc 3.0? Are there any packages in the Mandrake distribution which still require egcs to compile?
