If you uncheck sound and do not install alsa-utils mixer setings are not saved/restored across reboot. Last time I checked alsa-utils have not been installed by default. Since some time I cannot use KDE2 (O.K. it started when I have installed KDE3 :-) - but, notice, I am now using different directories for both. You try to start anything using kicker and kicker freezes. Application itself is started normally. Close started program and you get a messages "failed to start bla bla bla" and kicker is back again. Looks like kicker waits for some notification and never gets it. -andrej
