Do you have any old rpms of XFree86 4.2 sitting around (maybe on some beta3 CD) which you could try and see if the problem goes away? Maybe also try an older kdebase (if you're running KDE) or kdelibs. If you don't have access to such files, I could upload the rpms of XFree86 and KDE from the beta3 CD to the web.
