tv cards (at least, those built on bt8x8 chips) exports two pci
functions: a video one (the tv grabber itself) and a sound one.

usually, one only use bttv to grab video from tv tuner (v4l doesn't
manage sound) and use a cable to redirect sound from tv card to sound
card.

but you can also use the btaudio module in order to read sound
directly from the tv card.

the tvaudio let you set the volume for this sound source.

most people don't need it.
