Apparantly services configured in xinetd, like ipop3, imap, cvs, do not bind to the ppp connection that is used in adsl connections to the internet.
Pop3, imap, they are all only reachable when connecting from the 'inside'. When connecting from the outside, connections fail, not even logging the attempt.
