The window manager I used was Fluxbox and I could find
no language setting.... so maybe that is the problem.
There were no useful messages on the terminal window.
I then tried KDE but it still defaulted to A4.
Kcontrol shows the languallge as default (C), but all
of the settings are American (such as the dollar sign,
etc). One note is that this was a 8.1 box upgraded to
cooker.
