Well, removing the suid bit produces this:
[todd@fiji ~]$ mcc
userhelper must be setuid root

Adding the suid bit back produces this:
[todd@fiji ~]$ mcc
Segmentation fault

Hopefully all my messages combined provides someone a pointer <bad pun>
in the right direction to figure out where it is segfaulting.
