this is definitively gcc-3.x abi issue .... (well these vendors may have problems with the stricter iso conformance too) as for qt2 and the like, you want apps to be rebuild for qt3/kde3 since kde2.X apps may not works smoothly with kde3 (arts had changed a lot, ...) -- "je suis en train de faire une architecture, si qqun comprend, c inquietant" (pixel a propos du nouveau XFdrake)
