I haven't used Toms bootroot before (mainly because I hate floppies with a
passion), but we happen to have had someone mirror Knoppix, and if you
haven't tried it out yet, you should. Much easier to
recover/partimage/manually recreate partition table, copy data off stuffed
NTFS partition while running KDE3 ;-). But having diskdrake would top it
all off!

And if you're in a fix, and need to ssh-tunnel X into your box from
another machine, knoppis will do it for you (and give you a working
cd-writer and OpenOffice to boot).

If you haven't tried it yet, give it a go.
