A proprietary driver is available from HPT's Web site, and it works, but it's awkward to install.
I did the procedure, how did you manage the inclusion at boot stage ? I can insmod them after the booting process and it works quite well (as far
What I do is to put hpt37x2.o in /lib/modules/<version>/kernel/drivers/ide/raid, run depmod -a, and append 'hpt37x2' to /etc/modules: echo hpt37x2 >> /etc/modules
as my tests ran), but i think i need to make my own initrd (since i don't know the command -if someone can help-). I remember a Mdk-specifi tool to do this for me, but i don't remeber its name.
The problem is **not** Mandrake specific at all and there is little that the Mandrake team can do to remedy it at this stage.
I saw some patches for HPT372 from Alan Cox, and i was wondering whether they were included in the last kernel.
Solution: write to HPT a polite email asking them to open the source code for their 372 driver. After the 1000th email they receive I imagine they'll begin to understand...I'll try Stef
