we know about it.
problem is that some newer machines (especially laptops) seems to
require acpi in order to be usable whereas old ones and desktop
machines often don't like acpi.

Thank you for the acknowledgement.  I haven't seen any discussion on the issue but I 
have sen a lot of people complaining about it.

Is this a problem that needs to be addressed by the Linux Kernel Team instead of 
MandrakeSoft, or have these issues been worked out in the 2.5.x series and the 
backports are causing problems?  Should I bring this stuff to their attention or leave 
it here?
