For the record, I have always had better luck with the prism2 drivers than the
orinoco drivers. The prism2 drivers are in the Mandrake kernels but to configure
them you have to use the prism2-utils package from Cooker contribs.

The system load gets up to 100%. After removing the card, the system load
returns to normal.

I've also tested this with another lucent card using firmware 6.16: same as above.
