does it work before trying to install the driver? seems that
installing the driver totally freezes the kernel :(.


I'm not a kernel specialist but you may try disabling the acpi,
by booting with "linux acpi=off" (type F1 at the very first
splash screen, then you may type the boot command), maybe it
would help you.
