If you run cdrecord -scanbus before, and after reloading the ide-scsi driver,
does it give the same scsi id's for both times?
I had problems myself, and for me it seems to have changed from 0,3,0 to 0,1,0
some time between 8.2 and 9.0. For me this resulted in a dead symlink in /dev
and in /lib/dev-state. Removing everything under /lib/dev-state gave me new
and shiny device files under /dev. and everything was fine again.
I have no clue how or why it happened though. My cdrom was then /dev/hdb and
the cdrw was /dev/hdd.
