Since it kept giving me the same error, I power-cycled the VM.  When it came
back up, it checked the drive (which is odd because I had chosed ext3, the
journaling file system, so it should have taken a few seconds instead of several
minutes).

When it finished it told me it failed to repair the file system; bitmap attached.

When it finally completed booting I had a console prompt because I hadn't set up
the X settings, so I abandoned this install and started over (not knowing what
else might not have been configured properly).

I got the following error during install in VMware on Windows 2000: "Undefined
subroutine &main:: called".

This was after the questions about autologin, I believe; it installed several
packages and then the screen appeared (see attachment).

It appears to be stuck in a loop, as I click on "Ok" and the screen blanks, then
this error appears again.
