description:
I am running the absolutely freshest KDE 3.1 cooker installations. Machine is an
AthlonXP 2000+, Asus A7N266-VM/AA motherboard, 512meg RAM(482meg RAM due to
video mem pool) and 409 meg swap partition, I am using the 2.4.20-2 kernel, due
to the fact that it does a fine job of supporting Nvidia's video and motherboard
drivers.

On loading of KDE, I run into a situation where Available RAM is quickly used up
completely and the system goes into disk swapping. Soon after that, all
available swap space is used up completely. Daemons such as kwrited, klipperd,
and korgac cannot load. Performance, after the long loadup, is quite degraded,
with occasional freezes of the mouse due to low memory.

No user-defined GUI enhancements or customizations have been performed.
