Are u saying the kernel allows mounting the same device (read-only) to the same
mounting
point as many times as one wishes ? What is the use of that? And I am not asking that
the
kernel do the check. Its the job of supermount to check it. After all, what is the
/etc/mtab for ?
It (supermount) can definitely check /etc/mtab and choose not to mount a device twice
on to
the same mount point.

I have kernel 2.4.19-24mdk with supermount enabled.
First, I umount /mnt/cdrom. Then I mount /mnt/cdrom TWICE and the system indicates no
error !! The "Used by" field of lsmod for supermount also goes up by one everytime I
mount
thus showing that supermount is aware of it.
How can a cd devicd be mounted more than once to the same mount point ? This is very
ridiculous.
