------- Additional Comments From [EMAIL PROTECTED] 2003-03-05 17:31 -------
This is a stupid suggestion. How am I supposed to invoke "wget" or "curl" from within
the mcc
GUI ? Isn't the GUI supposed to make things transparent to the user. Also, I ran:

rpm -e --test wget

and this command gave no message, which means that drakconf does not depend on wget !!

Drakconf does seem to depend on curl (it works without wget just fine).

The issue is not whether the error can be reproduced (since the server's up/down
status is not
in the user's hands). The issue is giving the user the choice to stop after N failed
attempts.

It starts searching for updates and these messages appear on the terminal:

1) As can be seen, it tried to connect 17 times (over a period of 2 minutes). There is
no option
in mcc to set a limit to the number of connection attempts.

2) Whats as bad as 1) is that the pop up window which asks to start searching for
updates,
goes blank when the update search is on. This means, even it had a button "stop search
now"
it will not be visible. In other words, there is no way to stop this search.

Killing mcc is the only way.
