I thought as much.  As I reviewed my notes I noticed that changing the 
NEDDHOSTNAME to no didn't make a difference.


Well then you have not solved the mystery of the bug itself, just created a 
workaround.

When I configure my network during rc1 installation, no matter what hostname I enter 
when configuring dhcp, the computer uses dhcppc8, which I assume is being assigned by 
the dhcp server.  The address being assigned by the server is 192.168.0.9.  Why ask 
for a hostname if it will not be used in the configuration files permanently?
