Blond Toffee Brownies

1/2 c. butter or margarine, softened
1 c. sugar
1/2 c. packed brown sugar
2 eggs
1 tsp. vanilla extract
1 1/2 c. flour
2 tsp. baking powder
1/4 tsp. salt
1 c. English toffee bits, or almond brickle chips

In a mixing bowl, cream butter and sugars. Add eggs, 1 at a time, beating well after each addition. Beat in vanilla. Combine the flour, baking powder and salt. Gradually add to creamed mixture. Stir in toffee bits. Spread evenly into a greased 9x13x2" baking pan. Bake at 350 for 35-40 mins., or until a toothpick inserted near the center comes out clean.
Cool on a wire rack. Cut into bars.
