Last Thursday I bought a smaller crockpot, a two quart size. I have a four quart Rival one that has a three position power switch on it. The positions are: off, medium, and high. But for the last year or two I haven't wanted to cook in such large amounts. I know the larger pots will work with ;smaller portions of food, but I've heard that things cook somewhat faster in the smaller pot when you are working with smaller food portions. So, Friday I initiated my new two quart Rival pot, which is exactly like the larger one with the same three position switch. I had a lamb steak from Trader Jo's, really a slice from a leg of lamb including a slice of the leg bone. I placed it in the bottom of the new pot with about three quarters of a cup of water and maybe three tablespoons of sherry. I added grount basil, rosemary, garlic, salt and pepper. After about an hour, I added a handful of baby carrots, and two small/medium red potatoes which I cut up. Oh, and I added a small onion chopped when I put the meat and seasonings in. Within a total of about three hours, I had a most delicious dinner! I think I'll be using the small crockpot a lot.
By the way, I found it on sale at Walmart for $9.88 plus sales tax.
