Hey Holly,
This is Katie, and, I use to make these all the time for my kids when they
were younger and living at home. They loved them, in fact my son, was the
real lover of them. He still makes them now for his kids. They were called
bird in the basket then. You just take a slice of bread, brown or white
and pinch out a hole right in the middle of the bread. Then put some butter
in your skittle when melted place the bread with the hole in it in the
buttered skit, maybe making sure it gets some butter on both sides, but
enough butter in the middle for the egg to go into to cook. Then just break
your egg so it goes into the hole of the bread. If you do like I do,
puncher the yolk after you drop it in the hole, so it isn't a runny egg.
Let cook for a couple of mins, then flip it over to brown the bread a little
on both sides and the egg to get cooked well. It is good and like having
your soft butter bread with the egg in it, all together. Enjoy it!
Katie

Hmmmm. Interesting. I've never tried to do this egg in a slice of
bread thing, that sailor thing you talk about. I'll have to try that.
Put butter in the pan first? How long do you t hink it would have to
cook before flipping?
Thanks,
Holly Alonzo

You could always resort to baked pancakes and one-eyed sailors. Baked
pancakes you don't flip. One-eyed sailors since you've used a cooky
cutter or glass to punch out a circle in the center of a good slice of
bread and put the slice in the pan and then cracked an egg right into
the
center of that slice of bread so it lands in the hole, and let it cook
for
a while those are easier to flip and taste better than eggs with rye or
pumpernickel bread. Just remember patience and let the egg set up
nicely
in that hole and it will be much easier to flip.On Tue, 14 Dec 2010,

I sure do love my Iphone! Opens up soooo much to me!
I'm really into baking breads, cakes, desserts of any kind. But I
like cooking other things too. I'm not afraid to try anything in the
kitchen. That's my comfort zone. I haven't exactly figure out how to
flip a pancake or fried egg though. I used to be able to do this,
when I had vision. Some times it works right, and other it doesn't.
*sighs* When my egg doesn't do right, it ends up being turned into
scrambled eggs and nobody has to know. *grins*

Hi Everyone,! I was a member of this mailing list about a year or so
ago. It took me a while to remember how to get back on it.
I now have lost every bit of my hearing. I still LOVE to cook. It
gives me something to do. Not many options when you're totally deaf
and blind.
Anyway, I'm back on here but sadly I can't listen to the shows. So I
someone can give me an overview of what the show was about and a
recipe if I want it.
Can't wait to start getting recipes again.
