Hi Lisa,
I have a big George Foreman grill like that and I have no problem. I just wait a little while until it gets hot since I cannot see the light on it. I just go by smell and texture to know when steaks or chicken breasts are done to our liking. The bone in ones take quite a bit longer than the boneless ones so the boneless ones are easier. It takes a little more time and patience but I can debone a thigh and leg quarter with my jhands and that works out a lot better. I have even kept the bones and put them on to boil for a small bowl of chicken broth.
Dale gave a very good tip about cleaning the grill.
I use it every time now.
I will have to send him a royalty check, (smile) but he says when you are done cooking, take a big wet paper towel and first unplug the unit, then very quickly place the very wet paper towel across the inside of the grill and shut the lid. You will really hear it sizzle up but leave it there and let it cool down and enjoy your meal. Then a little later when it is cooled off, throw away the paper towel and you will find all that stuff will clean off easily.
I thought it was weird the first time I tried it but it really works.
Lora

Okay, thanks for that. It's going to be weird cooking with something that has no way to adjust any settings. I'm up to it, though.

Subject: [CnD] Using Very Old George Foreman Grill

Hi, all.

My parents gave me a very old GF they no longer use.

This is one of the original grills, it's big enough for maybe two or three hamburger patties. There's no temperature dial or switch. It comes on as
soon as it's plugged in, and there's a light that goes off when it's done
preheating. they didn't have the manual or recipe booklet; They just gave
me the grease catcher and the plastic scraper.

Any info about cooking time for things like hamburgers or chicken breasts
would be appreciated.

Lisa
