This looks like a great list! I would add a rubber or silicone scraper, or
plastic bowl scraper. On the second list, you might want to include some
silicone mats and a rolling pin. What about a loaf pan?
I would eliminate the cookie sheets without an edge, especially for a beginning
cook; less danger of things sliding off the ones with an edge.
A casserole dish with a lid (two quart is another useful item.
Good luck to your friend. This is an exciting time for him.
Also, just curious, what cook books are you considering for him? May I suggest
the Fannie Farmer cook book available for download from the BARD. site?
