They are small enough to fit into the place for the k cup, and then you put down the top, it pierces through the foil top, so that when the water passes through, the contents of it will make either your coffee or tea; hope this explanation is good; I always do not do justice to describing; better to show a person from one hand to the next!

The Mini, which requires you to pour each cup of water into the unit, costs approximately $99. the Elite, which has a 48 oz. tank on the side, sells for approximately $129.00. I do know from experience that if you buy these items from Bed Bath and Beyond you will pay more for them. try Wal-Mart or Sams for the units. sometimes QVC will carry one of these units and they will offer special gift items with the maker.
