Hi, Nicole, I just take a bunch of split peas perhaps two bags, throw them in the crockpot with some ham, the more the better, and cook until very very thick. I usually use a lot of curry powder, and/or cumin and/or chili powder, or a mixture. I like it the consistency of mashed potatoes and quite spicy. Sharon
