Great kitchen tip. I have never thought to put my beans in a colander to soak. It would be a time saver. One of the wire baskets that go into a deep fryer pot would work equally well. So would a large wire strainer work, the kind made of screen material that look like a door or window screen. Those come in large sizes too if you search long enough. In a pinch, those also work for sifting flour through. I digress, but thanks for the tip.

When it's time to change the water, lift the collander out of the container and dump the water then replace with fresh water and continue soaking.
