So I looked it up.  I have always used dry measuring cups for everything and
will keep doing so.  But I think that the discrepancy found here is caused
by the fact that to fill the dry measuring cup with liquid, you have to fill
it quite literally to the brim and won't even be able to carry it to the
bowl without spilling it unless you have some kind of magical and 100
percent accurate level in your hand and brain, which nobody does.  That
explains why the tiny difference.  You may think you are holding it
absolutely level as you bring it to your other ingredients, but, of course,
you are not.  

For home cooking, we have always known that good enough is good enough. But
it's still irksome that somehow, our ways of doing things are somehow never
considered to be as good.  It's like the scratchy sweater your parents made
you wear as a child so you wouldn't look like the stereotypical sloppy blind
kid.  

A pox on them all, I say.  Guess I need to make some of those buckeyes and
improve my blindness attitude today.
