Thanks for reporting this.  This is fixed now in revision 1881.
If you want (instead of downloading a whole new binary tar) you can replace
xxx/share/coot/scheme/ncs.scm with 

http://coot.googlecode.com/svn/trunk/scheme/ncs.scm
