Could this be the problem? If the column type is correct in your mtz file, then possibly coot is attempting to use an amplitude column type instead of an anomalous difference column type (would might be confusing fft). Of course, I wasn't even aware that coot would try to calculate these maps internally, so I could be completely wrong. Pete
