Dear Rafal,
beside having an MESA/openGL issue (see mailing list) running coot on
ubuntu 12.04 everything runs quiet nice at least with the graphics unit
of a sandybridge CPU. As the perfomance of the ivybridge is really
better compared to the one of the sandy-bridge, I assume that the HD4000
should run really nice.
Concerning stereo (which you don't need): As far as I know, stereo is
not supported with the ivy-bridge gpu anyway.
If I would buy a new notebook now, I would try to get one with a bit
more vertical resolution. With 1366x768 (like my Lenovo X220 and the
Z930) you have to adjust coot preferences to fit on the screen.
Moreover, I would highly recommend a notebook for which you can get a
docking station. It is really comfortable just to plug in your notebook
and directly enjoy everything else attached to the docking station, e.g.
a huge monitor;-)
Cheers,
Georg

Dear Coot users,
Currently, I am standing before choosing a new laptop, preferably an
ultrabook - Toshiba Portege Z930 is my favorite. Most of ultrabooks are
equipped with the Intel HD Graphics 4000 graphics card. Is it possible to
run Coot and WinCoot on this hardware in non-stereo mode (unfortunately my
eyes or brain don't use stereo view) with comfortable quality?
Best regards
