You just need to plug it in through an HDMI-HDMI cable to your Mac and
it works just great. In COOT, you activate stereo

I have an iMac running 10.8.2.
Should I risk buying an unsupported Zalman? Any other reasonable
option, or should I just set up a linux box for stereo?
