Yep that was what got updated.  Now why does it screw up coot?  Anyone? Anyone?

Probably the command-line developer tools - which used to be unnecessary, but 
Apple screwed it up for us with 10.9.  I'm working on removing this dependency 
right now, although that doesn't help solve your problem.
