I was trying to follow your tutorial on model building in cryo-em

plugins, but found that running curlew() in Coot was unresponsive. I
am running coot 0.8.9.2 (through ccp4) on my macbook pro, and I was
wondering if this problem is specific to the mac version of coot.

I suspect not, I suspect that it is specific to running Coot in Harvard.

I used Curlew in the recent CCP-EM course in Diamond. It was ridiculously slow (but worked eventually, ~10 seconds). I suspect that the host institution is mangling the http communication somehow. It is practically instantaneous from my desk or from home.

Networking code is difficult to test.

Also note that the cryo-EM tutorials are not written for 0.8.9.2 - now that the tutorials are out in the wild, this should be written into the tutorials. One of the slides in the video that Piotr showed a couple of weeks ago tells you how to get the version for which the cryo-EM tutorial was written.

Paul.
