Hi Paul,

thanks for your answer. While flatpak is not our preferred model of operation I
can confirm that it seems to be working.

Unfortunately the $HOME/autobuild does not contain any coot binary (but a ton
of other programs).

Regards Andreas

I'm supposed to install a recent coot version on a RHEL8 machine. Are there any
precompiled binaries available or any build instructions available?

It should be in Flatpak.

I tried to build using the build-it-3-3.1 script. It ends with

...
BUILDING: g-wrap 1.9.15
BUILDING: g-wrap done
guile-config - Guile version 2.2.7
BUILDING: gnome-gnome-platform 2.16.5
Now Coot.....
Thu 15 Jan 12:57:53 CET 2026
/root
CASE 2 coot directory not exists in /root
BUILDING: coot

But then I cannot find any build binary.

Look in $HOME/autobuild.

Paul.
