It's not a matter of deprecation. It that it needs to be written from
scratch. And that hasn't been done.
Surely I'm not the last person alive who likes hardware stereo?
You are not, but the hardware has been unavailable for 10-15(?) years
(as you probably know) and it not so much used/desired as it used to be.
I wrote the zalman code in 2009ish and now don't remember what it does.
It will need to be recast for "modern" OpenGL. Maybe Claude Opus 4.5
can do it - You might like to give it a try - patches accepted. It will
need a large context, I think.
If side-by-side stereo was a fallback, how useful would that be? 10% as
good, or 90%? Or something in between?
