to overload EditLogInput/OutputStream rather than EditLog is exactly the
direction we should be moving towards.
I am planning to upload a patch for HADOOP-4539 in the next couple of days.
This will give an example how the generic EditLogStreams can be used in this
context. I found the stream functionality is quite sufficient, but the
framework does not completely support for the abstraction, so I understand
Luca's struggle with that and I am making some changes. I hope this will
simplify your part too.
