SGE is the grid/scheduling engine from Sun; was publicly available on the no-longer-accepting-customers Sun Grid Service, but SGE is still alive (done in Germany, I think).
When you rented CPU-time on SGE, you couldn't always guarantee what ports you got, as another program on the same physical host could have taken them; kind of makes a mess of your bindings. I don' t know if that is fixed
